Our clinic is participating in an evaluated preceptorship program for University of Missouri veterinary medical students.
Who are the students?
The veterinary students working with your animal's veterinarian are in their third or fourth year at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. At this point in their education, they have successfully completed the first two years of a demanding four-year program.
as part of their professional education, students are required to spend a four-week rotation at a veterinary clinic that is approved by the college. By working with you and your veterinarian, students are able to increase their knowledge and skills outside of the classroom and the College's Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital. The experiences you are providing are invaluable in preparing students for their career.
The College and its students thank you for this opportunity.
What are the program's benefits?
* The University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine approves all participating clinics.
* Participating veterinarians help to teach the next generation.
* By allowing veterinary students to take part in appointments, clients are also helping to develop careers.
* Discussing owners' concerns and questions, examining animals and reviewing treatments increases students skills.
* Students who complete a preceptorship are better prepared for their veterinary careers upon completion of their veterinary studies.
* All animals seen by students will also be examined by the veterinarian.
* The licensed veterinarian always determines the course of treatment.
* All activities comply with the Practice Act of your state.
Clients with additional questions about student preceptorships may ask their veterinarian for information about the program or decline participation.
